The marks are soldered onto the dandy roll (light roller covered with screen fabric) in the form of wires. The raised areas displace the fibres on the fabric, which is strongly diluted with water, thus creating the light water mark. Artificial or fake water marks are created by subsequent embossing. The embossing process can be carried out blind or using so-called water mark dye.
