Deka L Dye is suitable for all natural fabrics<\/strong> (cotton, linen, silk, wool, viscose, etc.), but it is not intended for synthetic fabrics. Polyester can only be dyed if it is blended with at least 50% cotton. The intensity of the color on dyed fabrics depends on the amount of dye used, the type of fabric, the dyeing time, and the temperature of the dye bath.<\/p>\n

Other factors, such as water hardness or softness, also affect the dyeing results. To achieve a more intense black color, more dye powder, longer dyeing time, and higher temperature are necessary. Note that insufficient water can turn the dye bath into a gel.<\/p>\n

If you plan to wash the dyed fabric, always use Deka L Fixative<\/strong> beforehand. The fixative will help protect the fabric from fading (when washing on a gentle cycle at 30\u00b0C). For the first few washes, wash separately.<\/p>\n

Basic Dyeing Instructions<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  1. \n

    Weigh the fabric<\/strong> you intend to dye. Wash and rinse it to remove creases, shrinkage or stretching, fabric softener, etc.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  2. \n

    One 10g packet is sufficient to dye 250g of dry fabric<\/strong>. Dissolve the dye powder and 2 tablespoons of non-iodized salt<\/strong> in 4\u20135 liters of boiling water. Stir well. For silk and wool, also add 8\u201310 tablespoons of vinegar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Place the fabric into the prepared dye bath. Maintain the required maximum temperature (up to 90\u00b0C), suitable for the fabric type.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  4. \n

    Stir frequently and dye for 15\u201330 minutes<\/strong>, or up to 60 minutes<\/strong>. For very intense dark colors, you may let the fabric soak for several hours.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  5. \n

    Remove the fabric and rinse thoroughly under running cold water until the water runs clear.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Using the Dye for Wax Batik<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Follow the same instructions as above, but let the dye bath cool to 50\u00b0C<\/strong> before adding the fabric.<\/p>\n

    Fixative Use<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Mix 25 ml of fixative<\/strong> with 10 liters of warm water<\/strong>, and soak the dyed and rinsed fabric in it for 30 minutes<\/strong>. No rinsing is needed after fixation. This amount is sufficient for 500g of dry fabric<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
